A January morning, just like any other day,
Mommy waited patiently to see what it would say.
She looked down at the plus sign, joyful tears in her eyes,
Even though we had planned you, it came as a surprise.
Teary eyed and shaken, she quickly called Daddy,
Mommy managed to say the words: “We’re having a baby!”
Even though she could not see him, her smile was not alone,
She could feel and hear your Daddy’s smile on the other end of the phone.
The joy was mixed with fear, for not that long before,
A tiny baby inside Mommy knocked on Heaven’s door.
But as weeks went by, the fear did fade, and Mommy started to grow,
Finally we decided it was time for the world to know.
Everyone was excited; a new baby there would be,
And your big sister Addisyn was as proud as she could be.
She kissed and hugged you daily, and told you everyday:
“I love you little baby! I’m your big sister”, she would say.
Soon Mommy felt your flutters, then Daddy felt your kicks,
And Mommy could finally eat and drink without getting sick.
We all started to wonder, just what you would be,
Blue or pink? Boy or girl? We’d find out eventually.
As we saw you on the screen, we stared at you with joy,
We waited quietly until we heard “You’re having a little boy!”
Addisyn wanted a sister, so we weren’t just what she would do,
We looked at her, and then she smiled, and we knew that she loved you.
Just like Mommy, Daddy, and Addi everyone was so happy,
We were adding another Parsons boy to our growing family.
So now we try to be patient, as we wait until the fall,
When we all will get to meet you, and you will meet us all.
And even though we have not met you, we love you more each day,
And we promise that our love for you will never go away.
Mommy’s arms are ready to hold you; Daddy’s lullabies are in his head,
And your big sister, Addi, is ready to kiss you before bed.
We never thought we could love like this, but us three were so wrong,
We realize now, even before you were made, we loved you all along.
